Company Profile

The Center for Vacuum Technology in Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) has been set to serve the most comprehensive vacuum evaluation/tests since 1999, in order to enhance the quality assurance of vacuum components and systems, which reach up to the pressure range of atm. to 10-9 Pa. The facility also establishes and maintains national standards of vacuum, disseminates national standards to industry, and performs related researches, pursuing national standards in the inter-comparison and quality assurance of vacuum. KRISS is also an ISO9001:2004 registered organization.

National standards systems have been developed for low vacuum, high vacuum, and ultrahigh vacuum as well as infinitesimal leak. Through international comparisons with NIST of the USA, NMIJ of Japan, NPL of England, and IMGC of Italy, the KRISS national vacuum standards has been recognized to have reached the level of the top nations. Especially, the ultrahigh vacuum generation and measurement ability is considered to be one of the best in the world.

Products, Services and Markets

The center offers technical data and certificates necessary for the quality assurance of vacuum products, and has maintained 17 performance evaluation systems to serve 72 testing items for vacuum pumps, measurement instruments, components, materials, and process/system evaluation.

The characteristics evaluation systems for vacuum pumps have been developed and fully certified in accordance with the international standard test codes. Also, the general analytic ability for vacuum pumps and methods of reliable evaluation has been established, by syndicating the research and development of the general gas injection technique and the standard flow injection method. The evaluation systems for components are also constructed, such as flanges, sealing parts, valves, and high purity gas piping components. The calibration services and the characteristics evaluations for RGA, QMS, MFC are routinely performed. Moreover, characteristic evaluation systems for frequently used materials have been established, such as vacuum oils, ceramics, and metals. The analytic system for the process factors has being established for the analysis/evaluation of the next generation vacuum process equipments. Through this course of action, the goal is to build a firm foundation of the evaluation procedure and to provide external services for industries.
