Company Profile
Vergason Technology, Inc. (VTI), founded in 1986, is a leading innovator in thermal evaporation, cathodic arc, and sputtered PVD coating services and systems. Our markets include appliances, automotive, electronics, lighting, medical, decorative, tooling, molds, and dies, and many more. With over 150 installed systems across 4 continents, we are the global vacuum coating solutions expert. We build industrial performance into every aspect of our products and services. From rugged, field-tested manufacturing equipment for molded and metalized parts, to vacuum coating services designed for the demands of global manufacturing, VTI delivers world-class, turnkey solutions built for the real world- one job at a time.
Environmentally Friendly Technology
Preserving our environment, as well as providing opportunities for future generations is an important part of our corporate vision. At VTI, all our production processes include environmentally-conscious practices, as well as LEAN manufacturing techniques to reduce our footprint on the landscape. We utilize aqueous-based cleaning in our coating services division, and separate all soaps from our waste-water before discharge. In 20 years of operation we have never employed ozone-depleting CFCs or chlorinated solvents. Unlike electroplating, VTI's PVD systems produce no harmful waste products. Only small amounts of nitrogen and argon are discharged to the atmosphere; the first being the primary constituent of air, and the other being a non-polluting inert gas. As we continue our pioneering development of new technologies, we will keep as one of our core missions, our effort to produce, promote, and utilize environmentally conscious equipment and practices in an effort to protect our planet for future generations.

Vacuum Metalizing Equipment
Press-Side® Rapid Cycle Metalizers are designed to apply thin metal films on plastic components utilizing cell manufacturing concepts by metalizing the components shortly after they are ejected from their molds. Current applications for the Press-Side® include automotive lighting, consumer lighting, EMI/RFI electronic shielding and decorative coatings. Today's line of Press-Side® Rapid Cycle Metalizers with plasma polymerization base and top coatings are available with manual operations, semi automatic gantry loading, with humidity controlled automation packages and high speed water pumping traps. Capable of depositing a wide variety of metallic coatings with cycles as quick as fifty seconds, these systems produce superior finished parts in high volumes with very little waste. As an additional service to customers purchasing Press-Side® systems, VTI also offers the ability to design and guide the manufacture of fixture tooling for holding and masking of substrates. VTI's metalizing systems include preset process programs, modem connections, and extensive training for its customers.
VTI also offers its optimal temperature Cat Arc® hard coating equipment for the application of ceramic coatings for wear, erosion and corrosion applications. Small and large batch computer controlled systems are available.
Metalizing Coating Services
Our vacuum metalizing services are based on our pioneering legacy of innovation in the field of rapid cycle metalizing. We utilize the same equipment in our Coating Services division that our Tier 1 automotive customers use in everyday production on the factory floor.
Hard Coating Services
CatArc® coatings, applied as low as 375° F, allow temperature sensitive tool steels to be coated without concern for dimensional or hardness changes. Available coatings include CatArc® TiN, CatArc® CrN, CatArc® TiCN and CatArc® ZrN. In addition to dramatically extending tool life, these ceramic coatings reduce friction (improve lubricity), and improve thermal isolation, which are especially important in injection molding applications.
VTI Hard Coating Services also offers high-energy sputtered coatings. Sputtering is a PVD process applied at moderate (800° F) temperatures. Primarily utilized in metal cutting tool applications, these smooth, very hard coating compositions include combinations of AlTiN, TiN, TiCN and TiB2. Drills, taps, hobs, end mills, etc. show greatly reduced wear and exhibit outstanding longevity.
